Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris has said that arrangements were underway to entice the state civil servants with numerous packages to boost their morale for effective and efficient service delivery.
He stated this on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of a three-day workshop on Basic Accountanting Principles and Application for Cashiers and Finance Clerk across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The programme was organised by the Local Government Service Commission incollaboration with the POBICON Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin-Kebbi.
The programme was with a view to streamlining effective service delivery.
The Governor, who commended the efforts of the commission for organising the training, also assured them of his commitment towards promoting civil servants in the state.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Mansir Sheahu applauded the governor for supporting the commission towards the success of the training.
He disclosed that the theme of the workshop “Basic Accountanting Principles and Applications” was apt, adding that the essence was to provide efficient and effective procedures for financial data gathering, records keeping and management for transparent financial statement.
“You may recall that every transaction in accounting has two entries debit and credit, therefore it is critical to determine which amount must be credited and which amount is to be debited,” he added.
He then urged them to be more attentive and considerate to grab the knowledge and skills they would acquire from the experiences of the resource persons.
Also speaking, the representative of the Consultant Service, Dr Mujitafa Mohammed Abubakar and also the Deputy Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Birnin-Kebbi said adequate arrangements had been made to make the training a huge success
“The resources person were carefully and strictly selected based on their professionalism, capacity, experience and interest in the field,” he said.
