The Kebbi State Government has called on religious leaders across the state to preach against the planned protest in the country.
The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Muhammad Sani-Aliyu made the call during a meeting with Islamic scholars on the proposed protest.
Describing the protest as a deliberate attempt to cause chaos and sabotage the efforts of the government, the commissioner observed that government at both state and federal levels have been up and doing to improve the lives of Nigerians.
He charged the Ulama to prevail on their followers to shelve their plan to partake in the protest, insisting that it was uncalled for.
Sani-Aliyu said His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been taking bold steps to fix the state and the nation at large, while calling on people to continue to support policies and programmes of the present administration to pave way for more dividends of democracy.
Some of the Islamic Scholars who spoke during the meeting, promised to do their best to foil the planned protest which they described as detrimental to the corporate existence of Nigeria.
They also advised government at all levels to take steps towards mitigating the current insecurity, hunger, abject poverty and economic hardship bedeviling the nation.
