The Kwangoma District of Kagara Emirate, Rafi Local Government Area, Niger State has hosted a Quran recitation competition (Musabaka) among pupils of Islamiyya schools as part of the Eid Kabir Sallah celebrations.
The event was held on Sunday, 8th June 2025, at the District Head Palace in Pandogari.
The competition was convened by the District Head, Alhaji Idris Aliyu Jibrin, through the Special Sallah Celebrations Committee in collaboration with the Quranic Recitation Committee of the District.
The event saw talented pupils from various Islamiyya schools in the district showcase their Quranic recitation skills.
Saudat Usman of Madarasatul Tarbiyyatul Aulad, Pandogari, emerged as the overall winner with an impressive score of 88.75 points.
Bashir Musa from the same school secured second position with 88 points, while Khadija Ibrahim from Nurul Ala Nur school took third place.
The winners received prizes which including:
– First position: Gold medal, two copies of the Holy Quran, and a cash prize of N15,000
– Second position: Silver medal, two copies of the Holy Quran, and a cash prize of N10,000
– Third position: Bronze medal, two copies of the Holy Quran, and a cash prize of N5,000
The overall winning school, Madasatul Tarbiyyatul Aulad, received a trophy to be contested annually.
Prior to the competition, the District Head received village heads, ward heads, title holders, Imams and well wishers on Sallah Homage.
Prayers were offered for the peaceful coexistence of Kagara Emirate, and Niger State.
The gathering also prayed for the people of Mokwa, who recently experienced a devastating flood disaster.
Alhaji Idris Aliyu Jibrin emphasized the importance of proper upbringing of children, stating that it is the foundation for building a responsible society.
He urged his people to support government policies and programs to attract more development.
The District Head also commiserated with the Governor of Niger State, Umar Muhammad Bago, over the Mokwa flood incident and prayed for its non-recurrence.
