The Minister of State Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Yusuf Tanko-Sununu has eulogised His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu for creating a scenario different from other Northern States.
Tanko-Sununu expressed satisfaction that all the three past governors and the incumbent were seated under one roof to attend a function.
He stated this at the 2025 Yauri Annual Rigata Festival held at Yauri, Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Saturday.
The minister described the situation as a very good omen for the state’s politics as well as healthy development of the state.
Tanko-Sununu said the essence of the festival was to revive and sustain cultural heritage, boost business activities apart from fostering unity amongst different people of the area.
In his speech, His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu said: “Our yearning and aspirations is to see that Kebbi State is developed and this we will continue to do till we achieve our desire.”
According to the governor, the festival showcases the beauty of Kebbi tradition, the strength of the community, the friendliness of its people and the spirit of resilience.
He said: “It is an opportunity for our people to come together to celebrate our achievements and to regulate our share values.
“Yauri Rigata and Cultural Festival also plays a crucial role in promoting tourism, economic development in Kebbi State by attracting visitors from near and far.
“We also create opportunities for our local businesses, artisans and entrepreneurs.”
The Emir of Yauri, Alhaji Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi lauded the Kebbi State Governor for taking a bold and decisive measure to ensure that the lingering security challenges bedeviling the state was addressed.
“This action has certainly yielded positive results because many of our people who hitherto were displaced from their houses have returned to their ancestral homes and returned to their farms,” he noted.
He expressed appreciation to kebbi State Government and the Federal Government for supporting Yauri Emirate with different developmental projects.
Earlier, the National President, Yauri Annual Rigata and Cultural Festival, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida described the event as more than a celebration but a testament of presentation of tradition.
Bala-Tafida, who is also the Secretary to Kebbi Government (SSG), appreciated Gov. Idris for his commitment to the development of Yauri Emirate, disclosing that over 300 schools had been constructed and renovated, township roads constructed alongside other meaningful developmental projects.
The SSG also lauded the governor for taking necessary measure that culminated into improved security across the state, thereby facilitating not only the return of many villagers back to their ancestral homes but also back to their farmlands.
“His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu came onboard when security challenges forced many people to abandoned their villages and farmlands in rescue of their dear lives.
“However, with holistic support to security agencies by the governor, the story is different today, many of our farmers have gone back to their farmlands due to improved security, therefore, food production has also increased tremendously,” he said.
