The Motorcycle Owners Union Of Nigeria (MOUN) Niger State Council has received an approval for the commencement of their operations in the state.
This was confirmed by the Niger State Chairman of the Union Comrade Shafiyi Maishara in a press statement issued to Journalists in Minna at the weekend.
He said that the approval was given by the Niger State government through the state Commissioner for transport Hajiya Hadiza Idris Ibrahim Kuta stated with the approval issued to the Union full operations of the motorcycle is to commence within Minna and its environs.
According to the chairman, the Moun which is an affiliation of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress ( TUC) at the states and National bodies assisted in prevailing on the state government to give the approval of the commencement of the operation of the motorcycles popularly known as Kabukabu.
He explained that the State Council of the Union will now call on the branch chairmen,unit chairmen and all other stakeholders of the Union to discuss the mode of the operation and the areas of their operation within the stipulated areas.
The state chairman of the Almagamated Commercial Motorcycles Rider Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) in Niger State Danjuma Sani however threatened to resist the operation of the Motorcycle in Niger State.
Danjuma Sani who made the threat in a viral video already in circulation in Minna directed his members to go after motorcycle operators and impound their Motorcycle no matter the consequences.
“We cannot allow Kabukabu in any part of Niger State.For somebody to go and forge some documents claiming that NLC and TUC has given them the approval to operate in Niger we are ready to engage them in a fight to finish.
” I have already ordered my members to use every stick and object in their possession to beat them until blood comes out of their bodies. We are ready and prepared to resist their operations in any part of Niger State” he vowed.
Worried by the magnitude of the ACOMORAN state Chairman Threat, Comrade Shafiyi Maishara approached the National headquarters of the Union to Wade in to prevail on the Inspector General of Police IGP) Mr Kayode Egbetokun to call the state Commissioner of Police CP Ebenezer Shawulu Danmaman to call Danjuma Sani to order to avoid the breakdown of law and order in the state.
Already, according to findings, the state Commissioner of Police has been directed to invite the ACOMORAN state chairman for questioning over his unguarded threat.
It was gathered that both chairmen will appear before the Commissioner of Police CP Ebenezer Shawulu Danmaman for questioning on Monday, the 15 of April 2024.
