The Chairman Niger State Football Association (NFA), Ahmed Yusuf (Fresh) has assured members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Niger state chapter of closer working ties to actualize set objectives.
The state football body chairman has also debunked the rumours that the planned Speaker’s Cup football championship has been canceled and therefore admonished SWAN members to always verify from NFA before going to press to avoid misinformation capable of negatively affecting the established working relationship between the two professional bodies.
The NFA chairman spoke when he received on courtesy visit the new executive members of SWAN in Niger state.
Contrary to speculations that the Speaker’s Cup football championship, the brainchild of NFA has been cancelled, Ahmed said the championship aimed at discovering hidden talents across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state was only postponed due to circumstances beyond the organizers.
“The planned Speaker’s Cup football championship is still on course, the championship was only postponed to a later date due to circumstances beyond our control, and not cancelled”.
The chairman who congratulated the new executives encouraged them to put up positive attitude that will guarantee closer working ties between Sports Writers and key stakeholders in the state for maximum benefits.
While promising to carry SWAN along in all its activities, the NFA chairman who observed that nobody is 100 percent good in whatever he/she is doing called for clarifications from the state football body on reports that is aimed at discrediting its leadership.
State Chairman of SWAN, Comrade Mohammed Alhassan Kutigi told the state NFA chairman that the visit was aimed at exploring opportunities for the common benefits of the two professional bodies.
Kutigi told his host that SWAN as major stakeholder in sports growth and development is ready to partner government and corporate partners towards achieving desired objectives of promoting the different sporting activities in Niger state.
