In a bid to enhance the educational opportunities and empowerment of adolescent girls in Niger State, the State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed has recently inaugurated the State Project Implementation Unit of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
The inauguration ceremony, held at the conference hall of the Ministry’s headquarters was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Wasa Jonathan K, the Director General Schools and Educational Reforms, Hajiya Maimuna Muhammad and all the Directors of the Ministry.
In her address, the Commissioner highlighted the importance of the AGILE in promoting the education and wellbeing of adolescent girls in the State.
She emphasized the need for dedicated efforts to ensure that all girls have access to quality education and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed called on the SPIU to work together to ensure the success of the AGILE and to create a more inclusive and empowering environment for adolescent girls in the State.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Wasa Jonathan K, highlighted the roles of the SPIU in implementation of the AGILE project and assured of their readiness and commitment to implementing the project according to the lay down Standards of the World Bank.
In her vote of thanks, the State Coordinator AGILE, Hajiya Maimuna Ibrahim Tahir appreciated the Commissioner for her efforts and supports to the SPIU.
While thanking His Excellency, the Governor of the State, Farmer Umaru Muhammad Bago for the confidence reposed on them, she assured that they would leave nothing to chance in making sure that the State AGILE becomes the best in terms of proper implementation of the project.
It would be recalled that AGILE is a World Bank Project targeted at adolescent girls especially those who are out of School with the aim of bringing them back to School by providing them with all the necessary support and opportunities to excel.
Niger State was chosen due to the show of commitment by the Government to be among the eleven additional financing States to benefit from the World Bank intervention.
The inauguration of the State Project Implementation Unit for the AGILE initiative marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to promote the education and empowerment of adolescent girls in the State, signaling a renewed commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusive education for all.
