The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, mnips paid an official visit to the Police Training School Minna, today July 1st, 2025 where he addressed 371 recruits on basic Police Constable training in the institution.

During the visit, the Commissioner of Police was received with a guard of honour at sentry post, and welcomed by the Commandant PTS Minna, ACP Yunusa Isa Wakili with his management team. In his address, the Commandant appreciated the CP for his visit, stating that the recruits were three months gone in their training activities which commenced on 12th April 2025.

He stated that the recruits had written their basic examinations and would commence intermediate examinations on the 2nd July 2025. He appreciated the CP once more and implored him to use his good office to address some of the challenges faced by the school.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police commended the Commandant for the warm reception, stating that he would have visited earlier, but other engagements occupied him. The CP expressed delight at the turnout of the recruits, as he was impressed by their neat appearance despite the challenges of water they faced, which he assured that it would soon be addressed.

He urged the instructors and staff of the training school to ensure that discipline is inculcated in the recruits and that they must be properly trained on police duties and responsibilities.

The CP also asserted that drills must be taken seriously and directed the instructors to drill the recruits extensively.

The Commissioner of Police cited the excellent performance of their senior colleagues during the police day parade, adding that all officers present at the occasion were very proud of them.

He encouraged them to study harder, remain focused, disciplined and loyal in order to graduate as intelligent, well articulated, hardworking and responsible policemen/women who would be ambassadors of the Force, and not just in learning but also in character. He added that he visited as a father to bless and encourage them to do their best.

He also reminded the recruits of important rules while on training, with emphasis on obedience to the Commandant and all other officers in the school. He advised the trainees to report issues, problems or challenges faced in the course of training through the appropriate chain of Command.

The CP congratulated the recruits on the journey so far and welcomed them into the Force, stating that the Police Force is a noble profession and they are privileged to have been selected amongst the numerous applicants across the country.

He therefore charged them to endure the rigors of training, remain focused, dedicated and disciplined as proper conduct is vital in the performance of duties and responsibilities as a police officer.

In conclusion, he directed the operations department of the Command to ensure adequate security of the institution as the recruits remain his priority.

He also assured the Commandant that he had taken note of their challenges and promised to expedite action on it, as he’s much concerned about the welfare of the recruits.

The Commissioner of Police later inspected the facilities and structures of the school, such as the classrooms, hostels, administrative block, kitchen and dining hall, and after the inspection, CSP Margaret Joseph, Admin officer of the training school gave vote of thanks, as she expressed gladness for the CP’s visit stating that it was the first time in a very long while, as such, it is a huge honour.

The visit came to an end with the signing of the visitor’s register by the Commissioner of Police. The CP was accompanied by DCP Falade Micheal, DCP Ibrahim Adamu and DCP Aminu Garba.
