The Niger State Commissioner for Communications Technology and Digital Economy, Suleiman Isah also decried the spike in vandalisation of Telecom facilities across the state.

He made this known when he paid a courtesy visit on the Niger State Commandant of Security and Civil Defence Corps, Joachin Okafor at the NSCDC State Command’s Headquarters in Minna.

“We had a meeting with Association of Telecom Operators of Nigeria, last two weeks and they informed us that they have had a spike in issues of vandalisation telecom equipment in the state.” He said.

Isah said he was at the office of the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps as the agency saddled with the task of protecting critical national assets to seek their intervention in bringing the rate of vandalisation to barest minimum.

The Commissioner also called on Communities to take ownership of the infrastructure to achieve stable Telecom services in the state.

Responding, the Niger State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Joachin Okafor lamented over increase in the sales of adultrated petroleum products in filling stations in Niger State.

He said PMS.from one of the filing stations had been confirmed to be adultrated through laboratory tests by the Department of Petroleum Resources, adding that certificate of laboratory test confirmation had been issued to the Corps to enable it prosecute the suspects.

Mr Okafor said there had been complaints from motorists who claimed that their vehicles had broke down after buying fuel from the Suspected filing stations, saying that onwers of the affected filing stations would be made to face the law after on completion of investigation.

“Last week, we received information from the public concerning one filing station dealing in adultrated Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petroleum. We invited the manager of the filing station. We first carried manual evaporation test of the product and we noticed that there was element of adultration of the product. Then, we invited DPR, and we have done the laboratory test of the product and the result showed that the filing station was dealing on fake and adultrated PMS.

“Again, yesterday, February 13, we received another complaint of another filling station dealing on similar product. We are still investigating this case. Also, sometime in January, we went Tafa based on intelligence report and discovered a compound where the suspects were doing adultration of PMS.” Mr Okafor explained.
