Niger State House of Assembly has held a valedictory session in honour of Its deceased member, late Hon Joseph Haruna Duza (rtd).
The lawmakers paid tribute to their late colleague, former member representing the Munya constituency in the 10th Assembly.
The session was held at the Assembly’s Main Chamber in Minna, the state capital.
The valedictory session was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon Afiniki Eunice Dauda who stood in for the Speaker, Hon Abdulmalik Muhammed Sarkin Daji.
The Deputy Speaker, Hon Afiniki Dauda commenced the valedictory session by extolling the virtues of the late lawmaker as she enumerated the legacies left behind by the late Duza both in the Assembly and at his constituency.
In their separate tributes to their late colleague, all members of the 10th Assembly in Niger State described the late Duza as a man of courage, character and bundle of humility, whose leadership qualities was worthy of emulation, regardless of his military background and age, he was noted to have submitted himself to the service of his people and has remained committed to legislative business.
The lawmakers acknowledged the contributions of their late colleague to his constituents in particular and the state in general as the Chairman House Standing Committee on Security, they believed that the vacuum created by the demise of the late lawmaker will be difficult to fill, describing his loss as a monumental one.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Hon Abdulmalik Muhammed Sarkin Daji said the late Duza’s relationship with his colleagues in the House, transit beyond party line, adding that he had conducted his affairs without sentiments nor discrimination.
The valedictory session was attended by family members, friends, members of his constituency, in Munya local government area of the state, as well as members of the state executive council, local government chairmen, state chairman of PDP, Tanko Beji and members of the state security council, among others.
