The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, attended the annual Gurara Waterfalls Cultural Festival (GUWAC FEST) on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Gawu Babangida, headquarters of Gurara Local Government.
The festival, organized by Big Brother Association, aims to promote cultural harmony, peace, and unity among the people of Niger State. Comrade Garba commended the organizers for upholding the cultural identity of the Gabgyi people and urged them to sustain the tempo.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of education and agriculture, encouraging parents to enroll their children in school and Nigerlites to key into the agricultural revolution of the Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.He also highlighted the government’s gains in the fight against insecurity.
The Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hajiya Fatima Adamu, represented by the Overseeing Director of Tourism Madam Rakiya tiffi ,was also in attendance.
This year’s edition marked the 9th anniversary of the festival, which showcases Niger State’s abundant natural resources and rich cultural heritage.
The festival has become a significant event in the state’s cultural calendar, attracting visitors from across the country.
The Deputy Governor’s attendance and Honourable commissioner of Information and strategy Hajiya Binta Mamman, at the festival demonstrates the state government’s commitment to promoting cultural development and preserving the state’s rich heritage.
