The Director General of Niger State Diaspora Agency, Ambassador Danjuma Mohammed has called for more strategic collaboration and engagement between the Agency and Niger State Ministry of Tertiary Education.
Amb. Danjuma made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Niger State Ministry of Tertiary Education in Minna recently.
He said that the partnership with the Ministry of Tertiary Education was so strategic such that the Niger State Diaspora Agency needs to establish a prioritized relationship with the Ministry. .
According to him, most of the Nigerlites you see across the world today left the country in search of Education and ended up settling down where they found themselves.
Amb. Danjuma expressed optimism that the global exposure of Nigerlites in the Diaspora can be leveraged as a catalyst for the development of the education sector.
He however maintained that the responsibility of the Niger State Dispora Agency is to leveraged on its position to ensure the welfare and comfort of Students the Niger State Ministry of Tertiary Education is sending abroad on scholarship for further studies.
” If any Nigerlite has challenges either with the host community through conversation, it is the responsibility of Niger State Dispora Agency to liaise with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs using it’s Embassies around the World to solve the problems.”
Amb. Dajuma then intimate the Niger State Commissioner of Tertiary Education of the Agency’s intention to hold Dispora Education summit soon.
Responding, the Niger State Commissioner for Tertiary Education , Hon. Abdullahi Mammagi praised the effort of the Dispora Agency .
He said ” before the establishment of the Agency alot of things happen to Nigerians across the world without being reported but with the Dispora Agency the narrative has change completely.”
He then suggested that the Niger State Dispora Agency should articulate itself to allow for effective interactions with others agencies without conflict of interest.
The Hon. Commissioner however assured the Niger State Dispora Agency of desired support and Cooperation.
Earlier, the Director General of the Niger State Dispora Agency disclosed that within the first 8 months of the Agency’s existence , they have registered over 70 Nigerlites diaspora on its membership enrichment platform and still counting.
