Niger State Government has commenced the issuance of Basic Education Certificate as the first school-leaving certificate.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, stated this when she made a symbolic presentation of the Certificate to the Governor during the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Minna.
Dr. Asabe Mohammed explained that the Federal Government has transitioned from the 6-3-3-4 system of Education to the 9-3-4 system and that the Niger State Government has keyed into the new System.
She said the Basic Education Certificate Examination has now replaced the first school-leaving certificate and will only be issued at the completion of Junior Secondary School.
An award from the Zonal Nigeria Union of Teachers presented an award to the farmer Governor for his contribution to the educational sector of the state.
