The Niger State Government has pledged the sum of N5 billion as seed funding for the construction of classrooms and hostels to facilitate the revival of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) mini campus at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made the disclosure when he received the management of NCAT, Zaria, during their visit to the airport.
He explained that the project, once completed, would reduce the huge expenses Nigerians incur in sending their children abroad to study aviation-related courses.
Governor Bago reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, into a hub for both aviation and agriculture.
He commended NCAT’s long-standing relationship with the state and assured of continuous collaboration to achieve shared goals.
In his remarks, NCAT Rector, Dr. Danjuma Adamu Ismail, commended Governor Bago for remodelling the airport to international standards, noting that the revival of the mini campus would strengthen the partnership between the College and the Niger State Government, particularly in training aviation personnel and advancing expertise in agro-aviation business.
Dr. Ismail highlighted that NCAT, established in 1964, has expanded into six schools offering training in flight operations, air traffic control, aeronautical telecommunications engineering, airport emergency and training, as well as aviation management.
The NCAT team was later conducted around the aviation fuel depot and the airport’s housing units. Governor Bago disclosed that the existing housing units would be demolished to make way for modern structures that will help address housing deficits in the state.
