Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has directed his Commissioner for Communication, Technology and Digital Economy, Suleiman Isah, to liaise with the National Space Research and Development Agency NASDRA on the creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle SPV, that would aid a successful partnership with the Agency.
The Governor gave the directive when he received a delegation from the agency, led by its Director-General, Dr. Matthew Olumide Adepoju at the Niger State liaison office, Abuja.
He said there is no better time to partner with NASDRA than now, and that an SPV is essential, to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks and fast track the partnership as well as ensure positive results.
The Governor further stated that the SPV will decide on the terms of the partnership and will be gazetted as done in some other sectors.
Earlier, the Director-General of NASDRA, Dr. Matthew Olumide Adepoju, explained that the Agency is interested in partnering with the Niger State government through the deployment of its technology to aid agriculture, enhance security and Education among others.
He commended the Governor for his foresight in using technology to drive critical sectors in Niger State,describing him as a right peck in a right hole.
The Director-General of NASDRA said partnering with the Niger State government would complement the efforts of the farmer Governor, whose footprints he said are already seen across the world.
A PowerPoint presentation was made by the agency, showcasing how it can deploy space technology in different sectors to strengthen and enhance good governance in Niger State, where the Governor expressed delight with the presentation.
