In a bid to enhance the knowledge base of journalists and keep up with modern realities, the ministry of communication technology and digital economy in Niger State has successfully trained about forty journalists from various media houses.
Declaring the workshop open, the honourable commissioner, Alh.Suleiman lsah emphasized the importance of lCT in journalism. highlighting the need for journalists to adapt to the digital age.
He said the essence of the workshop was to equip journalists with the necessary skills to report accurate news and combat fake news.
The commissioner added that the workshop was a pilot training with content relevance that needs feed back to improve on subsequence workshops.
Suleiman lsah submitted that the ministries doors are open for open criticism and necessary support and assistance.
The permanent secretary, Dr.Abubakar Sadeeq Musa urged journalist to apply what they have learned from the workshop to improve their reporting.
The resource fellow, Mr. Yusuf paul,OC operation with the Department of State Service(DSS)Niger State Command, in his paper “open source intelligence (OSINT) as a counter threat tool’ said the aim of his paper is to enlighten participants on how OSINT can be leveraged on as a critical tool for countering threats in the interest of national security.
