Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar bago has advocated the need for censorship on social media reports in the country.
Governor Umar Mohammed bago stated this shortly after receiving the investiture as the ground patron of the Nigerian union of journalist niger state chapter at the government house minna,
Governor Umar Mohammed bago explained that the aims and objectives of social media are meant to promote unity rather than creating hate speech and insight.
He also applauded NUJ for its constant criticism in shaping the country as well as reiterating that every government understands the values and importance of the media.
Earlier the NUJ National president Doctor Chris Isiguzo applauded governor Mohammed Umar bago for ensuring the security and welfare of the people in Niger state, affirming that democratic governance is about the people as its General aim is to secure the life and properties of its citizens.
Isiguzo further said the members of the forth estate of the realm will continue to support the state and the country as a whole.
