Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who recently served as Nigeria’s President.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago referred to Buhari as an esteemed elder statesman whose contributions to Nigeria’s history are indelible.
The governor highlighted Buhari’s disciplined nature and unwavering commitment to public service and nation-building, both as a military officer and as a democratically elected leader.
He noted that Buhari’s tenure was marked by significant efforts to combat corruption and improve the nation’s infrastructure, including the expansion of railways, rehabilitation of major roads, and the initiation of the Social Investment Programmes (SIP).
Governor Bago emphasized that the late president’s legacies, encompassing various agricultural and security reforms, will long be remembered despite the numerous challenges faced during his administration.
In his message, Bago extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to the government and people of Katsina State, where Buhari hailed from.
He concluded with prayers for Allah to forgive Buhari’s shortcomings and grant him eternal peace in Aljanna Firdausi.
