Niger State House of Assembly has unanimously passed vote of confidence on the administration of governor Mohammed Umar Bago considering his performance and visionary leadership style.
The vote of confidence was passed during a Special Session of the assembly in honor of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago at the assembly complex in Minna, Niger state capital.
The session was first of its kind in the Niger State House of Assembly.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the member representing Tafa constituency, Mohammed Idris, and seconded by the member representing Bida 2, Haruna Mohammed Dokodza.
The plenary, chaired by the Deputy Speaker representing Gurara, Afiniki Eunice Dauda, said the specially session is to underscores, sportlites and commend the administration, described Governor Bago as a dogged and dedicated leader who has shown exemplary leadership style, hailing him for including women in governance amongst others.
The legislators further praised the Governor’s vision and foresight in leveraging Niger State’s abundant potential in Agriculture by attracting key investment opportunities that will drive the growth of the state.
The lawmakers also commended Bago’s intervention in providing lasting solutions to the state’s infrastructural needs, grants, wage awards, and other social interventions to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the people.
Other points of commendation sighted include the remodeling of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport Minna, the 3 Arms Zone project, the Bida Ring Road, the recently announced plans to revive and create a new Rail System within the State and one that connects to Abuja, the conversion of the old Shiroro Hotel into IBBUL Teaching Hospital, the procurement of 1000 tractors and other farm implements, the ongoing construction of 556km spread across 17 LGAs in the state, amongst other projects.
The Lawmakers said the aforementioned are testament to the harmonious working relationship between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government in Niger State.
They further underscores the need for continued collaboration towards establishing the State as a beacon of growth and development in the country.
Meanwhile, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago says the vote of confidence passed on him by the Niger State House of Assembly is a call to redouble his efforts in the provision of dividends of democracy to the citizens.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba said his administration will not take the confidence for granted while he used the medium to thank the Speaker and other members of the Legislature for their support in ensuring the success of his administration .
Governor Umaru Bago said nothing would have been able to be achieved without the cooperation of the Legislature and Judicial arm of government and called for sustainable relationship between the three arms of government .
The Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, AbdulMalik Sarkin Daji said Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has done remarkably well and assured him of the Assembly’s continued support in realizing his aspirations for Nigerlites explaining that, the State Assembly is convinced with his achievements so far.
