Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has deployed an EOD-CBRN unit to the scene of the explosion of some suspected dynamites at Sabon-pegi, Mashegu LGA.
Niger State Police Command in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the dynamite was reportedly kept in a residential area by one Yushau for a purported mining activity.
The command also confirmed that the explosion led to the unfortunate death of one Fatima Sadauki, while six others were injured and taken to general hospital Kainji for medical attention.
It added that the incident affected about twelve houses and many cars parked in the area.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman also ordered for an investigation and thorough assessment, of the damages done by the purported dynamite stored by Yushau who is currently at large.
The Police Command also assured that normalcy has been restored in the area stressing that monitoring continues.
