The Nigerian government has declared Tuesday, 1st of October 2024, a public holiday to commemorate the nation’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday said the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
Congratulating Nigerians at home and in Diaspora on the occasion, the minister praised the patient and hardworking Nigerian men and women, stating that their sacrifices would not be in vain.
He reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the “labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead, realizing that a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite.”
The minister wished Nigerians a Happy Independence Day Anniversary.
The 64th Independence Day celebrations started with a ministerial briefing on Thursday, on Friday, President Bola Tinubu alongside other Muslim faithful held a special Jumat prayer at the National Central Mosque Abuja.
A special service will be held on Sunday, at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.
