The president of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR Dr. Ike Neliaku FNIPR has advised the newly inducted members of the institute to vehemently up hold professionalism in public relations activities in their respective organisations.
Dr. Ike Neliaku also reassured the institute resolution to reposition its members for professionalism in Nigeria and all over the world
The NIPR President affirmed this in his speech shortly after the induction ceremony and oath administration on Associate Member, Member and conferment of Hounourary Fellow on outstanding member of the institute at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta Ogun State.
Dr. Neliaku said there are several complaints about the conduct of information officers in many organisations, warning that Public Relations practice is majorly hinged on Professionalism and every PR practitioners must be professional on their conducts.
He said many of the Institute Chapters, all over Nigeria have also be repositioned to lived up to responsibilities, in order to attained the core mandate of the institute, which is professionalism and excellence.
“we have heard many reports that most government and political office holders appoints known professional PR person to manage their information, instead of them to get the professional to it, they use quack, when in problem then look for professionals to mitigate their problems”
“May inform you that we are working on modalities to ensure that such unprofessional conduct will stop soon, as we are not going to allow them to use us to correct their mistake again.”
He assured any member facing one challenge or the other to not hold back, rather contact the NIPR National Secretariat for assistance, advising members to be professional in every of their conduct.
Similarly, the President NIPR, Ike Neliaku said the institute is embarking on several projects, such as NIPR finishing School, NIPR Young Youth Hub, Digital Centre, the University and among others.
He acknowledged that the Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has provided the institute with large heacres of land to build the finishing school in the state, adding that the land.
Dr. Neliaku further appreciated Nasarawa state governor for the 10 million fund provide for the start of the finishing school in the state.
He also appreciated Ogun state Governor for also supporting the institute with sumn of 10 million Naira to host the first NIPR week in his state.
Dr. Neliaku called on other state Governors to key into the new phase of the NIPPR Agenda to the greater part of professionalism practice in Nigeria.
Earlier, one of the recipients of the Honourary Fellow, Director General of Nigerian Television Authority NTA, Salihu Abdullamid Dembos on behalf of the newly inducted members appreciated the institute’s giant stride in engendering Professionalism among Public Relations practitioners in Nigeria.
Afterwards, the Nigerian Public Relations Institute held its Annual General Meeting AGM to hints its members on the activities of the institute for the last one year.
During the AGM, issues such as, members benefits, location of Next AGM, The institute’s 60th Anniversary and other vital issues were also discussed.
After the AGM the delegates from all parts of Nigeria visited several historical centres in Abeokuta: Olumo Rock, Adire Market and memorial centres.
