The Chairman Niger state Independent Electiral Commission NSIEC, Engineer Mohammed Jibrin Iman have assured all the political partices of the conduct of free, fair and credible local government elections in the state.
Imam gave the assurance during a meeting with the stakeholders and unveiling of the local government election timetable at the NSIEC office in Minna, saying that the Independent Electoral Commission INEC register would be used for the conduct of the elections.
He charged political parties in the state to strictly work in compliance with the electoral and party guidelines and rules, adding that mechanism has been put in place to monitor the conduct of primaries through NSIEC Electoral Officers across the 25 local councils.
Engineer Imam further revealed that the preparations for the election has commenced from 6th Match 2025 while election will hold on 1st November, 2025 for the councillorship and chairmanships elections in Niger state.
He added that conduct of party primaries is scheduled for between 15th to 24th March, 2025 while commencement of political party campaigns in public is slated for 27th May, 2025 among others.
The NSIEC chairman reiterated the commitment of the commission in ensuring a peaceful conduct of the process of the exercise, calling on the politicians, electorates, aspirants and candidates to conduct themselves according to the rules of the game in order to have a rancor free at the grassroot polls in the state.
After critical study of the presented timetable for the conduct of the local government areas of Niger state, the stakeholders unanimously certified the timetable while a motion was moved for the adoption and seconded.
