The Permanent Secretary, Kebbi State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Maikurata has admonished elected female councillors in the state not to disappoint Gov. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu in discharging their responsibilities.
Maikurata, who gave the advice on Monday while interacting with newsmen in her office, said the call became imperative in view of the importance the present administration attached to women appointment.
“This has never happened in the history of Kebbi State, this is a unique opportunity given to women folk by Kauran Gwandu administration.
“If you look at the scenario, this government has appointed women into different positions, both political and public service.
“We now have women Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) as well as councillors, therefore, we should not disappoint the governor,” she advised.
The perm-sec expressed appreciation over the decision of the governor that each Local Government should present two female councillorship candidates, which they did and won the election.
She equally urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, hard work, and selfless service to take Kebbi State to greater heights of development.
Maikurata enjoined all the women folk in the state to support the policies and programmes of the present government to enable it deliver all its campaign promises to the good people of Kebbi State.
The perm-sec used the medium to congratulate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, for the hitch-free and successful conduct of local government elections as well as peaceful swearing-in.
