The Federal Commissioner of the Public Complaint Commission (PPC) in Niger State, Barrister Bala Marka has warned that the Commission is ready to enforce and prosecute any persons that refuse to honour its invitation to clear complaint leveled against them before the Commission.
He explained that the Commission headquarters has been repositioned to use all the appropriate legal means to ensure that any complaints filed against those that infrige on the right of the oppressed in the society should be compelled to appear before the Commission to answer some questions.
The Federal Commissioner who spoke to Journalists in Minna during an interview stated that a special court has been established by the Federal goverment to prosecute such offenders noting that the Commission will no longer be a barking dog any more.
” Gone are those days that people see the Public Complaint Commission as a barking dog that cannot bite.
” The Commission will now bark and bite. We have been empowered to enforce, arrest and also to prosecut those that see the Commission as only barking but cannot bite.
” A special court to that effect has been established by the Federal Goverment which is already in place across the thirty six states including FCT.
” So those that see us as barking dog that cannot bite should be now honour our invitation in their own interest or we are ready to use the instrumental of our enforcement unit against them” he declared.
According to the Federal Commissioner, the Commission was established by the provision of the Constitution of the land to settle among other disputes between the Public, employee and employers as well as that their rights has been infringed upon stressing that the Commission will now adopt an amicable way of resolving the matter.
He called on members of the Public Particularly employee and employers and the less Privilege in the society to approach the Commission with their genuine complaint towards ensuring resolving such complaints within the ambit of the provision of the law establishing the Commission.
While appealing to the public to feel free to honor the invitation of the Public Complaint Commission to resolve their dispute, Bala Marka warned that the Commission will not fold its hands to allow its constitutional mandates to be undermine.
