As the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State celebrates two years in office, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women & Affirmative Action, Mary Noel-Berje extends her heartfelt congratulations to the people’s governor and his deputy, Com. Yakubu Garba, for the purposeful leadership in the State.
Today marks not only a celebration of a democratic journey, but also a moment of reflection on the transformational strides recorded in Niger State under the dynamic leadership of the Governor.
The administration has ushered in a new era of bold reforms, agricultural revolution, infrastructure revolution, and above all, inclusive governance.
Governor Umaru Bago, widely referred to as the “Farmer Governor,” has prioritised the needs of the people through practicable and result-oriented policies that have repositioned Niger State as a hub of agricultural excellence and economic progress.
His administration has made historic investments in mechanised farming, irrigation development, and the provision of modern farming equipment to thousands of farmers across the state, significantly boosting food production, creating jobs and wealth.
Another laudable achievement of this administration is women inclusion in governance. This is unprecedented in Niger State.
Many Women in Niger state have been economically and politically empowered. They have been appointed into strategic positions across ministries, departments, and agencies of government.
Governor Bago has not only fulfilled his promise to break traditional barriers but has also created platforms for women to contribute meaningfully to the development of the State.
Through various women empowerment initiatives, including skill acquisition programmes, access to soft loans, cooperative funding, and agricultural support schemes, thousands of women in Niger State now have the opportunity to build sustainable livelihoods and support their families.
The administration has also launched gender-focused initiatives that prioritise girl-child education, maternal health, and protection from gender-based violence.
As you clock two years in office, I join numerous of your well-wishers to celebrate your landmark achievements across all sectors in Niger State.
I also call on all citizens to continue to support the vision of your administration for a more prosperous and inclusive Niger State.
Long live Niger State.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
