Niger State government has reaffirmed its commitment for continuous repositioning of both primary and tertiary health sectors in order to achieve health for all Agenda in the state.
A statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy, Abdulbaqy Usman Ebbo clarified that Governor Umaru Bago is giving the health sector the desired attentions to ensure that there is no medical workers exodus in Niger state.
Abdulbaqy Ebbo explained that the doctors’ quarters at General Hospital, Minna, had been in poor condition for many years, resulting in uncomfortable and poor living conditions for doctors.
He affirmed that the urgly situation at the Doctors’ Quarter prompted Governor Umaru Bago to completely transform the quarters in order to make it habitable and comfortable for doctors working in the hospital.
The Special Adviser further informed that the state university teaching hospital; named Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Teaching Hospital Minna is under construction and if completed will serve as a multipurpose hospital for all the state and all residents in its environs.
He also hinted that the state-owned IBB Specialist Hospital is undergoing remodeling, with new departments being created and state-of-the-art facilities installed for effective and efficient service delivery.
Abdulbaqy Ebbo maintained that the state government has also begun the construction of 100 level-2 primary healthcare centers, with about 20 set to be completed in the next 10 weeks, saying it affirmed the present administration’s priorities for the health sector in the state.
